PAINT OCTOBER PINK! PURCHASE WITH A PURPOSE!

Somewhere in the world, every 69 seconds, a woman dies because of breast cancer. Except for skin cancers, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, but it can be successfully treated. The best way to fight and significantly increase your chances of  surviving breast cancer is to have a plan that helps you detect the disease in its early stages. The National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation has created a fast and easy tool for you to create a plan. Just visit their website at www.nationalbreastcancer.org for more detailed information. Also, by purchasing Pink Ribbon products, together we will support The National Breast Cancer Foundation and Young Survivor Coalition in promoting awareness, education and even mammograms for the needy. Won't you join us in offering "Help for today and Hope for Tomorrow"? Getting involved will give you a sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are making a difference!

Here are a few specific things that we wanted to pass along from the Susan G Komen for the Cure site:

1. Know your risk
  • Talk to your family to learn about your family health history
  • Talk to your provider about your personal risk of breast cancer
2. Get screened
  • Ask your doctor which screening tests are right for you if you are at a higher risk
  • Have a mammogram every year starting at age 40 if you are at average risk
  • Have a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years starting at 20, and every year starting at 40
3. Know what is normal for you
See your health care provider right away if you notice any of these breast changes:
  • Lump, hard knot or thickening
  • Swelling, warmth, redness or darkening
  • Change in the size or shape of the breast
  • Dimpling or puckering of the skin
  • Itchy, scaly sore or rash on the nipple
  • Pulling in of your nipple or other parts of the breast
  • Nipple discharge that starts suddenly
  • New pain in one spot that doesn’t go away
4. Make healthy lifestyle choices
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Add exercise into your routine
  • Limit alcohol intake

The internet is a wealth of information regarding breast cancer, please take the time to educate yourself. Do it for yourself... and your loved ones!

Our first Pink Ribbon product is the special edition pink "Ida Flop Shoe". Lindsay Phillips proudly designed this shoe in memory of her grandmother. A 1/2" modern flop featuring the Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon and pink ruffle flower signature strap (which is also interchangeable!).
